On August 28 at 6:00 PM, the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters will be hosting a virtual webinar about New Jersey’s growing flooding crisis, and what we can do to prevent floods and protect our local economies in the future. As a member of the Clean Water is Good for Business coalition, NJSBC is co-sponsoring this timely webinar on a topic that is increasingly relevant to local businesses in flood prone areas.
In support of its goal to achieve 100% clean energy by 2050, New Jersey has set an ambitious target of 11,000 megawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2040, and some developers have already begun the initial stages of constructing wind farms. As a coastal state, New Jersey is uniquely positioned to both tackle climate change and usher in a vibrant and dynamic new industry which will spur economic activity. Each wind farm implemented in the state is expected to add thousands of jobs to the economy.
As New Jersey makes progress on its goal to decarbonize the energy sector, businesses in the state are already benefiting from numerous emerging industries. ZAGO Manufacturing Co. is an important example of how embracing the transition to a clean energy economy can become a growth opportunity for manufacturing companies.
Businesses have a stake in supporting the transition to New Jersey’s clean energy economy. Not only does this program increase the number of people eligible for upgrades and retrofits, which will benefit companies in the clean energy space, it also supports programs for businesses themselves to take advantage of energy efficiency programs.
