Freight vehicles powered by fossil fuels make up only 5 percent of the vehicle miles traveled in the U.S., yet they contribute to 20 percent of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transportation sector. To meet state and national emissions reduction goals, it is essential to transition medium- and heavy-duty vehicles to zero-emission alternatives, especially since transportation is the largest source of climate pollution in New Jersey. A major obstacle to this transition has been the current shortage of public charging facilities for freight vehicles….but that’s about to change.
